Immigration Law & Advocacy is managed by Sandrine Lisk, Esq.., a licensed attorney in good standing in the State of Kansas, Appellate Federal Courts and the U.S. Supreme Court. Since 1995, our office has provided legal services and representation to thousands of U.S. citizens and their immigrant family members going through immigration proceedings before U.S. agencies, tribunals and Federal Courts, many of them pro bono. We offer legal immigration services (Eg. Deportation Defense, DACA, TPS, family visas, change of status, and attorney consultations about viable immigration options); U.S. citizenship services; new-comer orientations; safety planning seminars and workshops for Wichita’s foreign-born community. As advocates, we celebrate the contributions of immigrants, inform the public on immigration related matters, serve as a resource and agent for the common good, and shed light on the plight of immigrants. Our advocacy is grounded in Christ's instruction to #Welcome The Stranger. The notion of Welcome informs our position across all spheres of influence, whether spiritual, economic, political, philanthropic, or social so that the Immigrants amongst us are not deprived of justice. (Malachi 3:5)

Our advocacy team is actively monitoring and reviewing executive orders, new and pending legislation, and daily changes to immigration policies so that we can provide timely and accurate information to our clients and those who follow us on social media. To amplify our efforts as Truth Tellers who will report on what is happening in real time, invite us to speak, follow us on Facebook, share our posts, support and attend our events.
Events and collaborations with allies, our local community, and partner organizations to provide resources that empower immigrant communities, promote their well-being, and assist the foreign-born. Help us reach our goal to provide $100,000 in scholarships to immigrant high school graduates and international students in Kansas beginning in June 2026.
To welcome and befriend God and our neighbor is the highest good in life, and our facility extends welcome and friendship to the diverse native, multicultural, international and immigrant traditions and people that call Wichita home. We are at our best when the many separate threads of our racial, ethnic, cultural and language diversity coalesce into a beautiful mosaic of friendship, interdependence, good neighborliness, and a connected community that values welcome.
Schedule a Zoom consultation with Immigration Attorney, Sandrine Lisk, Esq. to determine what immigration options or benefits you may qualify for, or how certain laws or conduct could affect you as a non-citizen. Learn about risks, the cost, how the process will unfold, and case processing times. She offers consultations on MOST immigration matters; citizenship; family-based permanent residence; resident card renewals; work permits; deportation defense & bond; criminal history review; immigration interviews; waivers & consular visas; and the changing policies tied to the current administration.
Attorney Consultations are via ZOOM. We do not offer in-person options at this time.
The arrest, detention or possible deportation of a loved one who is non-citizen is a traumatic experience. On one hand, it requires a skilled legal expert to communicate with ICE, post bond, appear in immigration court, and/or file an administrative or federal appeal to challenge a deportation order. On the other hand, when ICE makes an arrest, the majority of people detained are the family’s primary wage earner. The arrest not only creates a financial crisis, but an attack on the family’s psychological and emotional stability. There is often little public assistance beyond food banks to sustain the affected families, or to help them stave off eviction, post bond or pay a lawyer. This is why a #SafetyPlan for vulnerable immigrant families is important. A #SafetyPlan for mixed status and vulnerable foreign-born family members is crucial when any temporary status expires, lapses or your presence in the United States is unauthorized. Learn how to BE PREPARED, not scared. Know-your-rights, protect your home, and have a plan of action in place for you and your family, especially minor children.
From case evaluations to application preparation, filing, citizenship classes, and attorney representation at interviews we offer comprehensive citizenship services. Classes include 100 minutes of Instruction per week in U.S. Civics, Reading, Writing, Speaking English and Interview Preparation.
With the uptick in both the scope and quantities of de-naturalizations of foreign-born U.S. citizens and the placement of lawful permanent residents in deportation proceedings, it is imperative to obtain proper legal counsel for naturalization cases BEFORE you apply. Immigration Attorneys do not just fill out forms. They analyze the answers to the questions and counsel you about how to prepare for your interview. An experienced immigration attorney can and will review your immigration, travel, criminal and overall history for red flags to determine if you are eligible for citizenship, and be with you every step of the process to become a naturalized U.S. citizen.
Lawful permanent residents are non-citizens who have been granted authorization to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis. As proof of that status, they possess a permanent resident card, commonly called a "Green Card." There are several ways to obtain permanent resident status, and we offer legal assistance to non-citizens applying for Adjustment or Change of Status to lawful permanent residence in the United States, Immigrant Visa Processing at U.S. Consulates overseas, Resident Card Replacements and Renewals.
All services related to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program for Dreamers: Renewals, Work Permits and Travel Authorization. Scholarships are available to qualifying applicants.
PLEASE NOTE: The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) continues to accept and process DACA RENEWAL requests and accompanying applications for employment authorization. USCIS also continues to accept initial DACA requests, but in accordance with a federal district court order, USCIS will NOT process initial DACA requests or issue work permits.
An immigration arrest can happen without warning so vulnerable immigrant families are advised to have a Power of Attorney and/or a Caregiver's Authorization for minor children. These forms help you designate a trusted individual to make health and education decisions for your children, or carry out your financial, banking, real estate and other important property decisions if you are detained, incapacitated or ill. Call (316) 262-6222 for FREE blank POA and/or Caregiver Authorization forms. Or use the link to request notary services for a fee.
The Immigrant Heritage Scholarship (IHS) Fund was first established by Immigration Law & Advocacy of Wichita, KS, in 2016.*
Since its inception in 2016, the #IHS fund has provided over $31,500 in merit-based scholarships to 25 exceptional immigrant high school graduates in Kansas who are selected without consideration of immigrant status, family financial circumstances, college choice, or major and career plans. The IHS Committee receives and evaluates information about the candidates' abilities, skills, academic standing, and accomplishments, and the scholarships are awarded in June during Immigrant Heritage Month (#IHM).
In June 2025, the IHS2025 Committee unanimously voted to roll over all IHS2025 funds to IHS2026, and expand the pool of recipients to include international students effective 2026 - and this is how the International Student Scholarship Fund was created. Beginning in June 2026, the fund will provide scholarships to international students admitted to accredited colleges and universities in Kansas. The Wichita African Business & Professional Network, a registered non-profit, will serve as the fund's fiscal sponsor, providing fiduciary oversight, financial management, and other administrative services to build the fund's capacity.
CONVIVIO is a free and sacred space for Community, Connections & Conversations of faith over a meal. Fellow believers often struggle with questions about who God is, how God sees us, and what the scriptures actually mean. CONVIVIO is a safe space to indulge in these questions, and converse about the ways of God. Believers across denominational and national boundaries gather once a month to ask and reflect on the big and little questions of our Christian faith, and hold company to share our joys, our pain, and prayer requests. It is a fellowship that begins where God begins with us; and as we take sweet counsel together, iron sharpens iron. With each CONVIVIO, we strengthen our faith and come away refreshed and encouraged to make progress on our earthly pilgrimage. "Little-faith will go to Heaven most certainly, but it often has to hide itself in a nutshell . . . filled with fear and desponding. But Great-faith remembers the promises of God that we can do all things." (Charles Spurgeon)

We have been celebrating Immigrant Heritage Month (IHM) since June 2015, IHM is our opportunity to recognize the contributions of Immigrants, honor the work of those who welcome the strangers amongst us, and mainstream the message that Immigrants do Make America Great. Replacing the false narrative that immigration is bad or a drain on resources with the truth is a top priority. Immigration is and has always been a net positive and net good for the USA. The more immigrants we have, the more prosperous we are, and the greater the economic impact on our communities and the country as a whole.
Most immigrants work hard to pay for everything we own, and we contribute to the benefits we enjoy. Instead of trying to keep immigrants out, we should welcome and thank them for coming here instead of taking their skills, talents and investments elsewhere. After all, Immigrants have been making America great since the founding of this nation, and we always get the job done!" ~ Sandrine Lisk, Esq.
#Welcoming is a movement across the globe which recognizes that being a welcoming community makes us stronger economically, socially, and culturally. Every September, in partnership with Wichita's Immigration Support Services Network (ISSN) and other community organizations, we organize an event to bring together our city's Citizens and Newcomers to affirm the benefits of welcoming everyone.
In 2024, communities in 49 U.S. states across eight countries and three continents declared “We’re ALL In!” as a part of Welcoming America’s 12th Annual Welcoming Week. More than 2,000 events took place uniting neighbors throughout the country of all backgrounds to celebrate the diversity that makes each community strong and vibrant. In Wichita, Kansas, more than 70 participants delivered a phenomenal multicultural celebration at WelcomeFest - a FREE multicultural festival of art, crafts, food, music, creative performances, information booths, and non-profits.
With Citizenship Day taking place during Welcoming Week, over 400 naturalization ceremonies across the nation commemorated more than 17,000 people becoming new U.S. citizens.
Our advocacy efforts are firmly rooted in the conviction that we can welcome the strangers amongst us, embrace the beauty in diversity, leverage the benefits and potential of the foreign-born, while enhancing national security all at the same time. Unless your vision or faith is limited to only welcoming certain racial, ethnic or religious Immigrants, these goals are not mutually exclusive. As far as it depends on us, we will keep the doors to this #ImmigrantNation open to those who come after us so that they too can share in the American dream.
Our mission and convictions squarely align with these words by the Father of our Nation,
President George Washington:
"The bosom of America is open to receive not only the opulent and respected stranger, but the oppressed and persecuted of all nations and religions."
